The recently held Pakistan Fashion Week London 2017 was part of celebrating the country’s rich cultural heritage and design aesthetics. The event showcased designs from Pakistan’s fashion industry in an effort to introduce local talent in front of an international audience. The rise of Pakistan’s fashion industry is to look forward to, as the country possesses immense talent. The two-day fashion affair was organised by Riwayat in collaboration with Pakistan’s High Commission in Britain at the opulent Lancaster Palace in London. Platforms like these give foreigners a chance to peek into our glamorous world.

The glitzy affair was attended by the big guns of Pakistan’s fashion industry as well as budding names of the glamorous sphere. The event comprised of 36 designers which included names like Maheen Khan, Sonya Battla, Munib Nawaz, Zuriya Dor, The PinkTree Company, Shamaeel Ansari, Sana Safinaz and Hamza Bokhari of Jeem, while Nabila took over the styling realm. They were all brought together by the British Council Pakistan following the globally managed entity Fashion DNA Project which runs in collaboration with London Fashion Week and Fashion Scout.

The display of brilliant designs by Pakistani designers was a treat for the attendees, as their stunning collections were highly praised by on-lookers. Models sashayed on the ramp while wearing brilliantly crafted outfits. The capsule collections were taken care of by a popular fashion director and creative consultant Rebekah Roy, whose aim was to provide an insight into the blossoming fashion in Pakistan and exhibited contemporary design, textiles and culture at the showcase.

An array of muted metallic hues was seen ruling the runway, while their cuts displayed a modern essence mixed with the traditionally inclined designs. Outfits that screamed Pakistani dominated, as models dazzled wearing pieces that incorporated a blend of tradition and modernity in an effortless manner. Intricately embroidered dresses were a treat for British Pakistanis as well as the bright hues, a trademark of several among the designers. While some designs also gave off a western feel through their contemporary designs to attract a global audience, the cuts and colours of which caught one’s attention immediately.
