OB wears a different cap for Parchi

The funnyman Osman Khalid Butt has now put on his dancing shoes to choreograph dance sequences for Hareem Farooq's upcoming venture Parchi. "Dance is an art form that's always fascinated me. Watching intricate choreography through Bollywood cinema and through live performances, the passion to pursue this personally was always there," said the actor.

Although the movie marks his debut as choreographer, this is not the first time Osman has choreographed for the arts. "I started off by choreographing for theatre back in 2006 in Islamabad; this continued into the theatrical productions I directed myself. I always wanted to choreograph for film because the scale is massive and it's much more technical. It's not just about preparing the dance steps; it's about conceiving the entire storyline and board, the shots and angles; working on expression and timing and synchronisation." The Balu Maahi star also confirmed that he will not be acting in the film that stars Ali Rehman Khan, Hareem Farooq, Usman Mukhtar, Ahmed Ali Akbar among others and is set to release this winter.

Sharmeen Obaid set to premiere Pakistan's first virtual reality film series

There's no stopping Sharmeen Obaid as she innovates further in the film industry. The two-time Oscar winner is all set to premiere Pakistan's first virtual reality film series titled Look But With Love. "Virtual Reality as an experience is very immersive. I wanted audiences to interact with Pakistan in a completely different manner," said Sharmeen.

The five-part virtual reality documentary series features extraordinary Pakistanis who are changing the socio-political landscape of their communities through causes they are deeply passionate about. She added, "In the series I have focused on Pakistan’s unsung heroes... you will be able to literally walk in their shoes, as they fight to save children in emergency hospitals and bring clean water to villages – finally a series where you can understand the spirit of the struggle of everyday heroes as they address Pakistan’s most pressing issues." The series travels from Karachi to Jamshoro and Thar Desert to Lahore and Nowshera. The series will also be showcased across Pakistan in schools and colleges.

‘I was typecast after a comical role in Janaan’

After delivering the massive box office hit Janaan last year, Ali Rehman Khan is all set to return to the big screen with Parchi, a gangster-comedy that revolves around a group of friends who land in trouble and turn to an influential woman (Hareem) for help. Speaking about his character, Ali shared, “It’s been very important for me to choose different characters. Even if you’re playing the lead, you can’t really take up a typical hero or a boring, two-dimensional character,” further adding, “I knew how I wanted to take my character forward and was also constantly discussing it with Azfar [director]. I’m a complete director’s actor. I need to keep what the director expects from me for me to be able to do justice to the role. It’s very easy in our industry to typecast actors in certain genres and that’s happened with me as well, especially after a comical role in Janaan.” Ali also shared that “people overlook the work I’ve done in my dramas, which was completely serious.”
