One would initially feel a little surprised to read the title of Ishrat Roomani’s current work Scattered Moments, because apparently it appears to detract the reader from his determined vision. However, one soon awakens to realise the showiness of the work.

Roomani’s imagery is enthralling and vivid. After going through some of his poems, one just can’t stop daydreaming. His view of the present day world, memories of the immediate past and unforgettable reminiscences of the distant time, as well as his vision of the future, is different from the beaten track in one way or another. The work shows that he is fully aware about the wearing down of values in our society, the darker side of human nature, and the persistent quirks of times for centuries to come. Bitter realities of the past keep him away from getting overwhelmed to a certain point where he tends to feel boxed-in and helpless.

His compilation of poems comes as a breath of fresh air. It is both, thought-provoking and thoughtful, packed with profound ideas, and all this while he avoids deviating from the lyrical aspects of his poetry.
