Interesting facts:

· Frank studied music at St. Pauls Grammar School and became a keen drummer at a young age, while his father introduced him to the dramatic arts.

· He went on to become quite an accomplished musician and played with some of the key 1960s recording artists including Trini López, Del Shannon and Paul Anka.

· In 1975, Frank appeared before the camera for the first time in the low-budget The Death Collector (1976) where he was noticed by acclaimed director Martin Scorsese who has since cast Frank in three iconic American films: the first saw Frank play the insolent Salvi in Raging Bull (1980), secondly as Billy Batts in Goodfellas (1990), being bumped off by Joe Pesci and Robert De Niro, and as Frank Marino in Casino (1995).

· His father was an ironworker who worked atop New York City skyscrapers.

· An accomplished drummer, Frank played with Bruce Willis' band at the Borgata Hotel. He also played with Joe Pesci early in their careers as musicians, and then again were featured in four movies together, three of them directed by Martin Scorsese.

· He appeared on stage at the 2007 Emmy Awards for a special The Sopranos (1999) tribute. Later that evening the show took home the Emmy Award for Best Drama Series.

· Director John Gallagher, who worked with Frank on Street Hunter and The Deli, noted that he lied about his age to avoid discrimination, with many sources listing his birth year as 1939.
