Are you a fan of Angle Olsen or Sharon Van Etten? If yes, then get ready to fall head over heels in love with Phoebe Bridgers form Los Angeles. Her album, Strangers In The Alps is a compilation of songs yet seems more like a collection of feelings. Her luscious but extremely depressing debut makes the listener understand how the 23-year-old singer is putting her heart on the line and is calling for you to do exactly the same. She is deeply influenced by fellow Angelino Elliott Smith, when one hears songs like Funeral that talks about the overdose of a friend, while the poignant Demi Moore shares impressive, finger-picked sentiment with the late singer-songwriter. The album has a dash of urban folksiness which runs deep through the record, and the strummed softness of her track Would You Rather also features Conor Obersts’ style. In the song Motion Sickness, the downbeat vibe is cut through but Strangers is a track which is definitely an album for the sad depressing times. All in all, all the Phoebe Bridgers listeners out there, get ready to embrace your tears.
