Miley Cyrus’ sixth album sees her going all western and country at the same time. She might still be a 24-year-old, but her career has already come full circle. Her father is Billy Ray Cyrus – the country singer – her godmother Dolly Parton and Waylon Jennings showed her how to play guitar – she broke out over a decade ago as teen idol Hannah Montana. She was a global sensation and released records under her own name from a mellow to a wrecking ball Miley, but now she finally returns to her Tennessee roots.

Her version of country music, however, retains the edge she cultivated in the past five years, for her jaunty number Rainbowland – which features backing vocals from Dolly – hints at her gender-oriented activism, while she wrote the delicate, Inspired along with Hillary Clinton, for whom Miley actively campaigned last year.

The title track is a meditative justification of her multiple personalities, whereas, Malibu discusses her relationship with her fiancé Liam Hemsworth. The track I Would Die For You is soppy, while Love Someone lets her inner darkness show. One can never tell which Miley Cyrus will emerge after the real and rootsy Younger Now, but we do recommend enjoying for as long as she lasts.
