The Woman In The FifthThe Odd Life of Timothy Green
Disney is hoping to draw in families with a bit of counter-programming this summer, with The Odd Life of Timothy Green. The film revolves around married couple Cindy (Jennifer Garner) and Jim Green (Joel Edgerton), who have recently learned it is simply not feasible for them to have their own child together. As a means of dealing with shattered dreams, the two scribble down ideas for their "ideal son" and bury it in a box in their backyard… only to be shocked when their dream child (Cameron Adams) literally grows from said ideas. The director appears to have crafted a pretty squeaky-clean, modern fairy tale flick that's friendly to moviegoers of all ages. All in all, this new theatrical preview does a better job of making the film look enchanting – as opposed to the more hokey and schmaltzy teaser trailer – though, it doesn't hurt that generally reliable performers like Edgerton (Warrior) and Rosemarie DeWitt (Rachel Getting Married) are onboard. Still, as harmless and good-natured as Odd Life of Timothy Green looks, one has to wonder how it will fare at the box office. Obviously, it has no competition against The Expendables 2, and ParaNorman, as the latter just seems more likely to emerge as the triumphant family flick.
