Rizwana Khan is one of the most seasoned makeup artists of Pakistan who has been in the industry for over two decades. She opened her salon in the 80s, when only a few beauty salons were there. However, her creative work started getting recognised and her salon quickly reached the top slot. Her exceptional work has earned her numerous accolades. She uses her imagination and lets her creativity flow through everything that she does. Rizwana Khan is one such makeup artist who embodies the true beauty of makeup. She likes to innovate and doesn't let conventional ideas of makeup limit her. Our makeup industry owes much to this maestro. Recently MAG caught up with Rizwana and asked her about the latest beauty trends. Excerpts:
What inspired you to pursue a career in makeup?
I was hugely inspired by beauty and nature. Random things like fish, different kinds of leaves and their beautiful colours always inspired me, and when I started my career I incorporated these elements into my work.
What sets you apart from other makeup artists?
What sets me apart is that my work is very natural yet very creative. I even got an award for my creative work.
What makeup trends do you predict will take off for this season?
Light and natural eyes, dark eye liner, thick lashes, beautiful shine on the cheeks, dark and light lips – both are in. So, all these trends are in vogue at the moment.
Which beauty looks at the moment are you growing tired off?
I am really tired of smoky eyes. I think people should move on to something different now.
What five makeup items should no woman leave home without?
A colourless foundation, mascara, eyeliner, lipstick and blush.
