 Henry Chooses Hollywood Over Fiancée
Superman actor Henry Cavill has split up with his international show-jumper fiancée Ellen Whitaker.
They have called time on their three-year romance just as Cavill is shooting to Hollywood stardom – Superman film Man of Steel is due out next year and Cavill is reportedly being earmarked for a starring role in the forthcoming Fifty Shades of Grey movie.
Meanwhile Whitaker, part of the famous Whitaker equestrian dynasty, is said to have moved to Newcastle with her best friend. Another of Whitaker's friends confirmed the split and said: "They just weren't getting on."
In May 2011 he proposed in a Hollywood hotel and a delighted Whitaker said at the time: "I couldn't believe it when he asked me to marry him. I thought we were there to celebrate his birthday. It was such a surprise and I am so happy."
But the pair haven't been seen together since June, with Cavill spending more time carving out his career in America while Whitaker concentrates on her horses.
