The Kurta Code
Kurta is one of the most traditional outfits for a Pakistani man. Its wide popularity and timeless appeal lies in the sheer comfort and simplicity of its design. A conventional kurta is loosely fitted, is of knee length with full sleeves and has embroidery on the neckline. It is usually paired with a cotton shalwar. The materials for the summer and winter kurtas are different. Summer welcomes crisp and light cottons, while winter gives way to all heavy and thick materials. However, the handloom kurtas can be worn in both the seasons. On traditional occasions like Eid kurta is the preferred choice. So no wonder that markets and boutiques are flooded with all the latest designs of men's kurtas for different and special occasions like weddings, festivals, parties, get-togethers etc. The designs of the casual wear kurtas differ from the formal wear. For the formal variety, finest fabrics like raw silk, georgette, crepe and brocade with heavy and intricate embroideries are used. To suit the taste of the style conscious Pakistani man, the conventional kurta has undergone a cosmetic change. A wide variety is available these days consisting of unique necklines with novel and exclusive designs and embroideries to suit your taste. Colours of the kurtas may range from traditional black and white to more unconventional colours like forest green or teal blue. Some of these kurtas come with a complimentary stole to enhance the royal and ethnic appeal of the apparel.
