Vidya Ambassador Of Indian Film Festival In Melbourne
Bollywood diva Vidya Balan, who had been named the Ambassador of the Indian Film Festival in Melbourne, visited the city to promote the annual Bollywood festival held in June. Balan's film, The Dirty Picture was being highlighted and Victorian Premier Ted Baillieu said that the Victorian Coalition Government was committed to strengthening ties between their own and Indian film industries. He was also pleased to deliver the Indian Film Festival election pledge. "The Indian Film Festival of Melbourne will offer diverse screenings in a variety of Indian languages, host prominent Indian filmmakers and screen professionals, and provide an interactive program of master classes," Baillieu had said. Minister for Innovation, Services and Small Business Louise Asher said securing Balan as the ambassador for the inaugural festival further enhanced Victoria's reputation as an international film hub. The festival ran from 11 to 22 June.
