Diminishing Wildlife
I would like to draw the attention of the authorities concerned towards the mass hunting of wildlife at Lasbela, Balochistan. About 10,000 wild goats (markhor) and sheeps are present in this area and people are free to hunt due to which wildlife is decreasing day by day, damaging the beauty of Balochistan. Locals have lodged complaints several times with the wildlife authorities but to no avail. Instead they were scolded on raising this issue. I would request the authorities to impose restriction and heavy penalty on Diminishing Wildlifehunting wildlife to preserve the beauty of the area.

Lahore Needs Some Revamp
A decade earlier, Lahore used to be a peaceful, lively city. It had a life of its own, unlike any other city in the country. However, over the years, there has been slow and steady deterioration. The poor law and order situation, congested roads and environmental mess we face today is the cumulative effect of bad planning. The departments concerned in return, put the blame on population growth. However, one single department cannot be entirely blamed because there are multiple factors at play in creating this situation. I leave it to the experts in the field to decide what can be done to remedy the situation and prevent it from becoming worse.

Time To Act
The situation in Syria has reached a boiling point. What is annoying and disturbing is that China and Russia are always acting against the international community's decisions regarding Syria and its barbaric methods of killing its own innocent people. Whatever resolution is passed by the international community, China and Russia veto it. What is obvious is that the Syrian people continue to suffer on a daily basis and the world is watching and doing nothing to help. Time is running out and if no action is taken then more lives will be lost. The time to act is now.

Gender Balance In Police Force
While women are fully active in the workforce, there exist some departments that show gender bias, especially the police department. In Pakistan, the police department is dominated by males, and women's participation is negligent. At this age, when women are proving their worth in every field, it is very much important to recruit women in the police department too. Police department should initiate a gender sensitive policy, through which more women are hired in the police force. It is the practice throughout the world and we should also meet the international standards.

Car Snatching In Karachi
Recently my car was snatched at gun-point in front of my house, near Gulshan-e-Iqbal a few days back. There were at least two to three criminals who were riding in a white car. Fortunately, lives were spared but the trauma continues. My question is what is the Anti-Car Lifting Cell doing to curb this practice? Why are the criminals that are caught, not put to trial and given an exemplary punishment? Nowadays, holdups and house robberies have become a common practice in our area. The authorities concerned are requested to carry out a detailed study and analyse the problems being faced by the residents and take concrete measures to provide security.

Overpopulation – A Huge Problem
Media and politicians always talk about corruption, terrorism, inflation, loadshedding, law and order situation, etc. Sadly, no one talks about our biggest problem – overpopulation. We have one of the highest birth rates in the world, but we do not care about it. Just imagine if we were today just 100 million instead of 180 million people, I am sure that the problems I have mentioned above would have been of minor concern. The next government must develop a strategy to bring the birthrate down to one per cent during its tenure. No matter how much progress and development takes place in the country, overpopulation will never let us prosper.
