Old or Gold? ( Last Part )
Passing the good old age of 40 has affected some of Bollywood A-listers well and others badly. We take a look at who has gotten better with age and who hasn'tâĤ
Aamir Khan
Career: Aamir is bigger than King Midas at the moment everything he touches turns to diamonds! In fact, since turning 40, Aamir hasn't put a SINGLE foot wrong as far as his films are concerned. He has done the exact opposite of Shah Rukh â instead of going for big budget extravaganzas and putting his fingers into too many pies, Aamir has concentrated on quality cinema over quantity. The result: huge box office success and an incredible brand value.
Personal Life: His personal life in his early 40s has been very successful as Kiran Rao entered his life. Ever since he married the intellectually inclined Kiran, he seems content. A 21 year old Aamir, when he made his Bollywood debut, had actually hid his marriage for fear of alienating his female fans. But the 40 plus Mr Khan is not only by Kiran's side all the time, he even poses with her for magazine covers!
Aamir has become even more of a perfectionist in his ways. In his mid-40s he has transformed into a politically aware actor.
Highlights: His first production, Lagaan, being nominated for the Oscars kick-started â that has been a fantastic decade for Aamir. He was awarded the Padmashri, was offered to be waxed at Madame Tussauds (which he refused!) and has multiplied his fan following a million times over.
Low Lights: Nothing much really! Perhaps his support for politically controversial subjects, comes close.
