 Ajay Devgn
Career: Nobody expected the industry's dark house, Ajay, to last this long in Bollywood. He has had a long and eventful career dotted with some remarkable and, of course, some terrible films. As an actor, there is much to be admired about Mr Devgn. Despite not aligning himself with any big banner production house or following the A-list camp he has managed to give one hit after another, pleasing both the critics and masses.
His huge barrage of commercial blockbusters, namely the Golmaal series, Singham and now Bol Bachchan are testimony to his post-40s choice of flicks. Unlike his compatriots, he has zealously stayed away from TV, reality shows and the IPL.
Personal Life: Over the last few years Ajay has become more confident. He makes no bones about the fact that he doesn't need gimmicks or big banners to be popular. Interestingly, there was not a whiff of controversy while he was in his 20s and 30s. His perfect family man image has taken a bit of a beating in the last couple of years. Now there are murmurs about his alleged proximity to certain co-stars. But for the world, his marriage to Kajol is the stuff dreams are made of.
Highlights: An Ajay Devgn film is a safe bet at the box office. He has garnered a massive fan following and while he can never command the fan frenzy of a Salman or Shah Rukh, he has his own unique appeal among cinegoers and filmmakers. With two of his films in the 100 crore club, he has ensured that he will remain on the Top 10 list for a long while to come.
Low Lights: Let's admit it. An Ajay Devgn wil never excite the gossip mills the way a Shah Rukh or Salman does. But his Kangna link-up definitely came as a shock. Rumour has it that it has caused considerable problems in the Devgn household. However, it seems he has tided over the crisis.
