Lara Dutta now a designer
After turning a producer with Chalo Dilli, Lara Dutta launched her prenatal yoga DVD. Now, the actress who is synonymous with style and glamour, launched a range of bridal and ethnic saris. "In the past couple of years, I had been working a lot on building things outside of films, and a clothesline was one of them. Ever since my modelling days, I have loved fashion and accessories but never had the time to do anything concrete in that area. And then when I was pregnant, developing a clothesline was one of the first things I worked on. I have a whole range of Indian wear in mind, but I wanted to focus on one thing a time. So for now, it's a range of 47 pieces of bridal and ethnic wear which I am launching it collaboration with Chhabraa 555, a fashion brand which is huge in North India. The collection will be sold from their 60 odd retail outlets in addition to being available online," said Lara.
The designs, the actress said, are entirely hers. "I have spent a long time and worked very hard to conceptualise designs for the middle and upper class woman, keeping in mind that the saris should reflect my style and at the same time cater to the needs of the modern woman. So it's net and crystals and my favourite Benarasi, chikankari and badini."
