Pak-Japan Ikebana 'Celebration'
I kebana, the traditional Japanese art of flower arrangement, is both an ancient and modern art. In basic form, an Ikebana usually contains the foliage and flowers of the current season, and the blooms are mostly used in their natural state. Ikebana is born from the encounter of nature and humans; it is the coming together of nature and human life… a clear example of perfect harmony between man and nature.
A full week exhibition of Ikenobo Ikebana (Japanese Art of Flower Arrangement) was recently held under the title of "Celebration" to mark the 60 years of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Japan. Some exotic blooms were also incorporated. Each arrangement clearly depicted the artists' own style through different colour combinations, graceful lines, and natural shapes hence clearly implying the understated meaning of the arrangement. Moreover, the lovely containers added to the overall beauty of the construction. Some students used artificially made containers whereas some used natural materials as containers.
The Japanese Consul General Masaharu Satu said at the event that the incorporation of Japanese thoughts and designs with Pakistani expertise is a sign of strengthening bonds between the two nations. Overall, the event was a huge success and was well attended by many prolific personalities like Nabeel And Aqeel's Fashion Extravaganzaministers, foreign missionaries, celebrities, socialites and media personalities besides general public.
