PC Wants Manish
Priyanka Chopra sure knows her fashion. But when it comes to being dressed up for the movies, she only trusts ace costume designer Manish Malhotra. The designer, who can't always be with the actress, has his assistants with her on the sets. The buzz is that the actress refused to wear anything his assistants give her. She as a rule doesn't like the clothes, the colours and the combinations his assistant put together for her. So she's constantly on the phone asking him for help, wherever in the world he might be. She won't wear the clothes until he gives his approval. If these rumours are true, we guess B-town has found its new diva!
Teri Meri Kahaani Happened Over Coffee: Shahid
Actor Shahid Kapur says Teri Meri Kahaani happened over a cup of coffee. "One day over coffee Kunal Kohli said that he had an idea which he really loved but it was not developed. It was just a one line story. He told me it would be an entertaining love story with the same two actors in three different time periods," Shahid said in a statement.
Shahid says initially he didn't understand the time concept in the script. "I told Kunal that I didn't understand (the time concept) and asked him to explain it to me. He then explained." Also starring Priyanka Chopra, the story is based in three time zones between 1910 and 2012. The film will hit the theatres June 22.
The Real Kangna
They say most people are not what they seem. It's true of Kangna Ranaut at least. The actress looks so unassuming and cool. But those who know her insist she's anything but that. A recent incident is proof enough. Reports say Kangna was going for shooting in her car and her driver accidently banged it. She didn't say anything at that point but once she reached her vanity van, she called for the driver and slapped him hard. The poor guy was stunned. And as if that wasn't enough, she fired him from the job. To add serious insult to injury, her make-up man and sister Rangoli apparently beat him up black and blue. The poor driver didn't know what to do except file a police complaint.
Aamir Khan TV Debut
Recently Aamir Khan took the industry by surprise when it was revealed that his show Satyamev Jayate will be aired on Sundays at 11am. Earlier speculation was rife about the slot that the show would be aired on, as that would mean moving the existent shows on the channel. But according to a source, it was one of Aamir's conditions that was put before the channel that his show be given the traditional spot on TV.
Though trade experts and TV industry insiders unanimously agree that it's a risky move, they do admit that it's also a smart one. Aamir had been very coy about his show until the music lunch of his show when he got really emotional. "This is my life's most crucial step. I have done many films which are close to my heart, but if I find anything really close to my heart then it is this TV show," Aamir said announcing his debut on small screen with Satyamev Jayate.
"I have been working on this project for two years. Many people did not know what I was doing during these years. I was working on the TV show all this while… Probably this is my most ambitious project till today," he added.
Bully For Emraan
Emraan Hashmi is flying high these days. The industry it seems has finally woken up to the actor. He'd been giving back to back hits the past few years but it's only now that filmmakers have realised his potential. So offers are pouring in left, right and centre. The actor recently signed Karan Johar's next opposite Kangna Ranaut which will be directed by Renzil D'Silva. Ace director Ramesh Sippy approached Emraan for his next directorial venture. The actor agreed to do the film initially. But then he was also offered a film by Yash Raj Films. And the actor was apparently in a quandary about what to do because he didn't have dates to spare. So he let go of Ramesh Sippy's film and chose to go ahead with the YRF film instead.
Kapoors Celebrate Familial Love
In the past, Kapoor cousins Ranbir and Kareena have shied away from playing lovers in a Bollywood project. But award-winning director Zoya Akhtar has come up with a perfect solution. If they can't make play lovers, they sure can play siblings.
According to the grapevine, the Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara filmmaker narrated her story idea to the actors on separate occasions and both grabbed the offer. Though Bollywood musicals hinge on sweeping romances, this one is likely to focus on the bro-sis dynamic and their turbulent relationship. Meanwhile, Ranbir seems to be on a signing spree and is all set to play a bloodthirsty vampire in Bloody Veer.
