Bigger laptops are cool again
Dell’s new laptop XPS 15 is the best if you are into bigger and cooler laptops. It has a sleek design and an edge-to-edge display similar to that used by Dell XPS 13, however, everything else is just bigger. The company has compressed a 15-inch laptop into a 14-inch frame, and it is really designed to be a much powerful option than its previous laptops. XPS 15 is escalating against laptops manufactured by Apple like the MacBook Pro Retina, with sufficient power to edit video, play games, or utilise graphically serious apps on the go. The XPS 15 seems like a powerful machine, it is indeed a beast.

Hardware
The XPS 15 is just a larger version of XPS 13. It is pretty much identical from the outside, apart from the layout and size of the trackpad and keyboard. Dell sticks to the basics with this device, as there is no flipping display or a crazy hinge; it is simply a pure laptop. It is refreshing and feels like a strong companion that fulfils all your work needs. The manufacturer has kept the blend of a wedge shape and an aluminium finish that it used on the XPS 13, and it is much better with the new device. The only difference is its large trackpad. Dell has an improved trackpad on this very device. The soft finish of the laptop makes it very easy and comfortable to use. Nevertheless, the keys on keyboard are a little mushy, they could have been better though. The laptop’s extra weight is quite noticeable, and you will need a bigger cover to keep it safe from dust.

Display
XPS 15 has a 15.6-inch and 4K touchscreen display (3840 x 2160), it is packed with 16GB RAM and also the latest Corei7 processor by Intel. Its sleek 4K display is extremely stunning. The angle for viewing are quite solid, and the colour reproduction is absolutely crisp. It comes with an option for an upgraded display for $450 and it’s absolutely worth the price. If you are someone who prefers a laptop’s matte display, than XPS 15 is not for you. It comes with a single USB port on its right, with a lot of great accessories like monitors and external devices, while you can also charge the laptop through USB. The choice of ports on this device are designed to match with its inside. The large size of the laptop includes distinct graphics processing from Nvidia. This is so not a gaming laptop, because with its 4K display you will already have to run the games at a much lesser resolution, however that is an option.

Software
The laptop uses a built-in card by Intel graphics for carrying out most of its tasks. Nevertheless, once you start using 3D apps and games, it instantly switches to the chip by Nvidia. The device’s recent driver and its BIOS update help a lot. It runs most of Steam titles pretty well, if you are not concerned about settings, however it is still designed as a laptop for various commanding desktops apps instead of games. If you are into using apps and games, which really make use of the distinct graphics, then you have to make sure that the device is connected to the power supply as it demands a lot of battery. The manufacturer claims approximately 17 hours on the 1080p XPS 15, and both the non-touch and touch variants of the previous laptop version have separate battery life.

Verdict
If you are a fan of larger displays, then XPS 15 is a laptop for you. It has a large 15-inch polished screen. It is not the most perfect and inherits its flaws from its younger sibling. However, it is a good option for those who want to use it for work, instead of playing games all day. Plus, if you are comfortable with its size then it is sure the one to get, but make sure that you balance out your choice based on storage and display against its budget and battery life.
