Tighten the loose Skin

Getting ready to celebrate your recent weight loss but worried that it will leave your skin loose? Patience is the key; while you must give your skin time to adjust to the physical changes, and not get disheartened if the results are not immediate, there are some easy ways in which you can tone your skin to a considerable extent.

#1 Basics first
Any weight loss regimen that promises quick loss must be avoided at any costs. Not only does the lost weight come back, it also tends to increase. Additionally, this damages your skin beyond repair. Instead, opt for a routine that helps you to lose weight gradually over a period of time. This will allow the skin enough time to cope with the change, so that the sagging is minimal.

#2 Green for vitality
There are two components that help keep your skin’s elasticity intact – elastin and collagen. Start by adding protein-rich foods to your diet, like beans, tofu, cottage cheese, milk, fish, seeds and nuts that are great if you want to tighten loose skin. Also, add a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables to your list.

#3 Scrubbing is important
Scrubbing encourages blood flow, which in turn boosts your skin’s elasticity and health. Applying natural scrubs, such as sea salt, is recommended by many experts to get blood flowing in order to tighten the loose skin. Mineral scrubs are another good option to think about. Repeat it twice-a-day and see the benefits for yourself.

#4 Train well
If you are worried about looking extra buff after intensive weight training, don’t be. You can always regulate the area of focus and change the methods for resistance training. Weight loss not only helps to reduce fat in the body, but also leads to loss of lean muscle mass. Go for strength training exercises that would help you to combine weight loss with toned body. It works on the layer of muscles below the fat, which tends to sag due to weight loss. It is advised to perform strength training at least twice-a-week, which can include free weights, machines, and body weights.

#5 Moisturising is vital
One of the after effects of weight loss is the stretch marks that appear due to constant stretching and sagging of skin. These stretch marks can get itchy because of dryness, and the more you scratch, the more visible they become. Invest in a good moisturiser with vitamin E and collagen-promoting ingredients, to maintain skin elasticity. Regular moisturisation also ensures that your skin remains wrinkle-free for a longer duration. Use products consisting of aloe vera, cocoa butter, shea butter and soy protein extracts, to boost collagen production.

#6 Hydration is must
With the amount of exercise that you must be doing every day, it is important to keep yourself hydrated at all times. Hydrated skin is not only healthier, but also more elastic. Drink plenty of water to compensate for the loss through perspiration. Water is the best way to keep your skin healthy, smooth and happy. You can also eat healthy foods with high moisture content to increase water intake.

#7 Focus on your problem areas
When you are talking to your trainer about weight training, you guys should stress on the importance of specific exercises for specific areas. With particular exercises, you can tighten loose skin by targeting those stubborn areas. For instance, to tighten the skin under your arms, go for overhead stretches or dumbbell exercises. For your legs, go for jumping jacks, leg lifts, squats, or cycling. For your abs, crunches are the best bet.

#8 Yoga for life
Yoga is one of the most ancient techniques for not only losing weight, but also relieving stress and increasing body flexibility and well-being. There are different postures that work on specific body parts to tone them while increasing their strength. Such a combination of postures not only ensures gradual weight loss, but also a firm and toned skin.

#9 Love your skin
Apart from exfoliation and spa, there are more things that you need to start doing for your skin to tighten it up. You should limit your exposure to sun to keep it supple, smooth and firm. Other than that, also limit exposing your skin to very hot or chlorinated water. It is best to stay away from harsh detergents such as sulphate, which is present in many soaps and shampoos.

#10 Treat yourself to spa
Treat yourself to a lavish massage or a body wrap at your nearest spa to not only rejuvenate your senses, but also tighten the skin after all that weight loss. Massages also promote blood flow and elasticity of the skin. Body wraps such as sea weed, are also good for detoxifying the body and increasing its flexibility.
