Yummy Vegetable Treat
Q: My 11-year-old daughter's weight is 36kg with height 5 feet 3 inches. She does not like vegetables and fruits. What is the ideal weight for her? Sadaf Anwar
A: Her height is in accordance with her age and hopefully she will gain more height with time. As far as her weight is concerned, she needs to gain a few kilos to avoid that skinny look. If she is not fond of fruits and vegetables, try to make her consume nutritional food items. Make yummy shakes and snacks by utilising different fruits and vegetables.
To gain weight, she can have a glass of mango or banana shake twice a day. Serve her fruit juice and prepare her foods in vegetable oils. You can also serve vegetables soups with meat. Include milk, eggs and vitamin C supplements in her diet. Weigh her once a week and find alternative proteins for her. Lentils with rice and eggs in soups are good for her to improve the protein quality. All this will provide her with required energy and nutrients.
