When directors decide to turn the tables and face the camera themselves, the results are a revelation of their multitalented persona. Take a look at a few directors who have also dabbled with acting…

Farhan Akhtar
Farhan Akhtar is a storehouse of creative talent. From being the director behind the iconic film Dil Chahta Hai to making his acting and singing debut with Abhishek Kapoor's Rock On!!, Farhan took his talent to a whole other level. The super hit success of his debut was followed by projects like Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara and Bhaag Milkha Bhaag. He will be seen next in Zoya Akhtar's family drama, Dil Dhadakne Do.

Anurag Kashyap
The intense writer, director and producer, Anurag Kashyap has played a number of small parts in films over the years. Whether it was his cameo as the writer in Luck By Chance or as himself in Happy New Year and Bhootnath Returns, we see a different shade of the director whenever he makes an on screen appearance.

Rohit Shetty
The money spinning director, Rohit Shetty, decided to take to the screen in a cameo with the popular Marathi film, Poshter Boyz and even made an appearance in R Balki's latest, Shamitabh. Let's hope the director brings his humour quotient to the screen soon in
a full-fledged acting debut.

Mahesh Manjrekar
Before Mahesh Manjrekar turned to acting, he directed a number of popular films like Vaastav and Astitva. He became a popular actor after his performance in Sanjay Gupta's Kaante, followed by a number of appearances in films like Slumdog Millionaire, Dabangg and more recently, Jai Ho.

Farah Khan
An entertainer to the bone, Farah Khan is a choreographer, director, producer and now also is an actress. She made her debut as the lead in Shirin Farhaad Ki Toh Nikal Padi opposite Boman Irani. Though the movie did not do well at the box-office, she showed her versatility and gave an endearing performance.

Prakash Jha
Known for his films on social and political subjects, Prakash Jha is all set to bring his acting talent to the forefront. After his cameo in his own film Raajneeti, where he played Katrina Kaif's father, word is that he might be playing an important role in Gangaajal 2.

Tigmanshu Dhulia
The director of Bullet Raja, Paan Singh Tomar, Saheb Biwi aur Gangster, Tigmanshu Dhulia blew us away with his sinister performance as Ramadhir Singh in Gangs of Wasseypur. He has also played a part in Shahid and is rumoured to be acting in the upcoming film, Yaara. The niche director surely isn't lacklustre in the acting department.

Karan Johar
Bollywood's favourite director who creates memorable love stories on large scale canvases, Karan Johar has explored his dark side with Anurag Kashyap's Bombay Velvet. Though viewers have seen him in a miniscule role in Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge well before he directed Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, as well as a number of cameos in films like Luck By Chance, this is his first full-fledged role in a film.

Kunal Kohli
The charming director of movies like Mujhse Dosti Karoge!, Hum Tum and Fanaa, Kunal Kohli is ready to make his acting debut opposite Jennifer Winget in the romantic drama, Phir Se. Cine-goers can't wait to see his on screen avatar.
