Sabyasachi Mukherjee
Sabyasachi’s name has become synonymous with grandeur and elegance. With his keen eye for design, Sabysachi, the label, had taken Indian fashion to global heights. Sabyasachi’s bridal collection had ensembles which were lighter in weight but more dynamic and effective in terms of color combinations. The collection was a testimony to the richness and complexities of Indian heritage, culture and textiles inspired profoundly by the Mughal Gharana, Avadhi Royalty and paintings by Raja Ravi Verma.
The designs were traditional but with a contemporary twist. The majority of the fabrics used in this collection were net, georgette, brocade, khaadi, silk, muslin and gauze. There was more emphasis on threadwork and diverse kinds of embellishments have been used – hand embroidery, Moroccan gara work, crusty borders, tepchi work, zardozi, intricate aari, gota ka kaam, vegetable dyeing, block printing and tye and dye were highlights of his collections.
