It has never been more difficult than it is today to rise above the mediocre and get noticed. We are talking specifically about showbiz though the same holds true for other fields also. However, the present lot of actors and actresses fit in the mediocre slot than the top one and anyone who manages to rise above that lot is nothing less than promising. There have been a few rare cases in these times when you actually sat up in your chair and noticed the talent unleashing itself on the screen. Unfortunately, that’s what they exactly remained… few and rare! Tatmain is one of those rare entities in the world of biz. And not just biz but she has spread out her tentacles in fashion and hosting also. And now she is a regular feature both on television and in the fashion clique. Although the girl has devoted herself to both the genres, it is nevertheless modelling that she is passionate about. “I’m a model and that is how I would like to be known. I want to make my mark as a model.” She took to this field tentatively, as an experiment, as a fun event and got hooked onto it to the point that now she considers it her career.
Tatmain’s luck took a turn a couple of years back. She was still a student and simultaneously managing a job at an elite bank when she took on a fashion assignment, just for the heck of it, with some friends. “I was surprised at the fact that I had made good money from that one assignment and who doesn’t want to make good money? So I thought why not continue doing this for some time,” she articulates.
She’s the first one in her family to opt for this career and has no qualms about it. Rather, she has enjoyed her family’s support all the way. “My family has always believed in me knowing I would never go wrong. Especially my mom, it’s the trust that she has placed in me that has always helped me in making the right decisions… decisions that I never regretted.” Her inspiration in modelling is, “Iraj while in acting I try to learn from every local and international actor,” she says.
When it comes to designers this girl knows what she likes and dislikes. And though she does not share with us her dislikes she definitely says, “We have many talented designers but as I have to mention a few names then I would like to say Nilofer Shahid, Deepak Perwani and definitely Nomi Ansari.”
Her preference in dressing depends purely on her mood on a particular day. “When I am off to work I opt for Western wear because it doesn’t demand nakhraas like ironing and stuff. But when I am with my family I go for Eastern attire as it adds innocence to my personality and that’s how I like to be when I am with them. I have often noticed that my dressing has an effect on my personality and attitude.” Tatmain’s philosophy in dressing is wearing whatever makes one feel comfortable. “I believe fashion is what you feel comfortable in… my style is rather casual and original.”
This girl loves to spend her spare time with her family. And when she’s not going out with them then it’s either her studies that take up most of her time or her Taekwondo (martial arts) practice. “I’m a black belt,” she reveals with a smile. Whoa guys, better be careful with this one. She surely knows how to take care of herself!
This girl rarely goes near her vanity case. “I’m not into make-up at all! I believe in originality. I know that I am beautiful and make-up hides my real beauty making me look like any other model. So I’d rather maintain my individuality. As it is, I like to show my natural lip colour, my natural skin and my eyes which are naturally deep. The only thing I go for is kajal.” When asked to define herself, she takes a minute before saying, “I believe that I radiate positive energy. Most of the time people fall in love with my personality and my attitude. I have often come across people who say that I am very talented and extra ordinary... God knows how true that is,” she says mischievously. Future for this girl is as undecided as can be. Says she, “Let the future decide what I do next.”
