Q: I am a 20-year-old girl. I suffer from grey hair and dandruff. I have tried most of hair oils available in the market with no result. Natasha
A: Grey hair is hereditary in some cases. There is no proper treatment for grey hair, except good diet and keeping your scalp clean and free from dandruff. You should try and get rid of dandruff, which is not always helped by oil alone. Stimulation of scalp while massaging should get natural oil secretion increased. Add 1 tbsp medicated oil or use unscented oil like almond or olive. After applying oil, wrap your head in a hot towel (soak the towel in hot water and squeeze water out) for 20 minutes. Before washing, apply a paste of curds and 1 tsp of oil for another half an hour. If the problem persists, see a dermatologist before trying anything else.

Q: How can I make my lashes look long without using fake eyelashes? Lubna
A: Big lashes are back. The simplest way to get them is to pick good mascara. It's better than wearing false eyelashes which can get messy if not attached professionally. If you want to make sure that your lashes are soft and comfortable, the trick is to use a full bristled brush and apply the mascara confidently not allowing any clumping, smearing or flaking. To ensure that you use only a hypoallergenic product. The colours will depend upon the colour of your eyes and how you want to project them.

Q: I use cream for my dark circles under the eyes, but it makes make-up look dull. Please suggest how to get rid of dark circles? Sana
A: Using cream under the eyes for dark circles will not help if you are putting makeup. Gently massage eye gel creams, at night for a specific problem; cool your under-eye skin with cucumber water packs. For a bright lasting make-up look, invest in a good quality concealer, which is better than just foundation and learn to use it well from a good beautician. Always remove makeup gently with cotton wool pads soaked in baby oil or eye make-up remover liquid and remember to bring the cotton wool inside from the outside of the eye. Most women harm the delicate skin around the eye by rubbing it harshly while removing makeup.

Q: What is the natural way to exfoliate? Sabeen
A: Wet face (or anywhere on the body), apply a couple of teaspoons of sea salt, and then gently massage with a wet washcloth or fingers. Focus on the T-zone and cheeks, but avoid the eye area. After one or two minutes, rinse with cold water to tighten pores. It is important to do this regularly. You can do this once a week.

Q: I want to have an aromatic bath that will help me relax. How should I go about it? Sumbul
A: To relax, create the right ambience. Ensure you are undisturbed by phones or family members, light candles and play soft music. There are many options for essential oil blends that you can use. Some suggestions: Mix 5 drops of lavender, 3 drops of geranium and 5 drops of rose water with a few tbsps of honey and a few handfuls of fresh rose petals. Add these to the bath water. Add 20-30ml of sesame or olive oil for moisturising dry skin. Begin with scrubbing dead skin off with a loofah. Then, slide into the bath and relax for 20 minutes. Baths are best enjoyed before meals or one hour after.

Q: Why does the colour of lipstick change on the lips? Mona
A: When your lipstick changes colour or "turns blue" on your lips, after some time, it is an indication that it needs to be reapplied. This change occurs because the so-called true colour of the lipstick (the colour you see in the lipstick case or on the lips immediately after application) has worn out more quickly than those components of the lipstick which are responsible for the adherence and these chemicals generally have a slight bluish tone. Habits like biting the lips intensify the problem, since they help remove the true colour even more quickly. If your lips are not dry and clean, when you are applying the lipstick, the colour loss is more rapid. You would face this problem less frequently with brown or brick shades, since these pigments tend to keep their colour better than pink or mauve shades.
