There’s a new gaming console in town!

REVIEW

Though Microsoft’s new tagline for the Xbox One X entices gamers to “feel the true power”, the new gaming console fails to offer something impressive if you already own an Xbox One. While, there’s no denying that this gaming console is certainly a powerful machine, it still manages to fall short in terms of expectations.

Coming to the positives, it offers something what no other console does: Native 4K HDR gaming. This allows gaming enthusiasts to enjoy stunning pictures with the finest details. However, since the console supports larger files, it does not leave much room in the 1TB hard drive. Aside from gaming, the console is also great for media junkies: there’s an app for YouTube and folks can also watch Netflix on the console.

The console also features a built-in 4K Blu-ray player – a feature that sets it apart from its predecessors. However, many reports suggest that there were a few problems with this feature, causing the images to appear far too bright. The good news is that the brand has taken notice of this issue and is working on fixes to improve user-experience.

Further on the positives, with this model, you don’t have to worry about throwing out all of your old games since the gaming console is a part of the Microsoft’s Xbox Family of Consoles. This will save you money on purchasing ‘enhanced’ editions of your favourite games. In fact some games such as Star Wars Battlefront II and Rise of the Tomb Raider offer free updates, offering a visual treat for users. Coming towards the design, the gaming console looks pretty similar to its predecessors. While there is an aesthetic colour change and a few tweaks here and there, these changes don’t affect the overall functionality of the device in anyway.

Similar to the One S, this model also features a power connector, an optical audio port, two USB ports, an Ethernet port and HDMI ports. Coming towards the hardware specs, the gaming console boats an eight-core CPU with 12GB of GDDR5 RAM.

There’s no arguing that this new model is unlike any other gaming console in terms of 4K HDR gaming however gaming enthusiasts who already own the predecessor models may be a bit disappointed for there are not many notable changes worth bragging about.
