Wikipedia’s most searched Pakistanis in 2017

Activist for girls’ education and the youngest Nobel Prize laureate from Pakistan, Malala Yousafzai, has made it to the top of the list, as Wikipedia’s most searched Pakistani during the previous year and that too for the second consecutive year. A report by the Pakistan affiliate of The Wikimedia Foundation stated that Malala’s Wikipedia page had more than 2.5mn views last year. This list is based on the number of searches carried out from January 1 to December 20, 2017.

Mahira Khan stood second, after having gained much attention not just in Pakistan but also in India where she made her Bollywood debut alongside Shah Rukh Khan. The list also contains celebrated Pakistanis who are no more alive such as the father of the nation, Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah, whose page bagged the third position with more than 1.3mn views.

Many more names like actress Saba Qamar, Fawad Khan, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Benazir Bhutto, Abdul Sattar Edhi, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan and former premier Nawaz Sharif also made it to the list.
