With winter comes the awards season, and to think of the star-studded affair, the 75th Golden Globe Awards, there was nothing like the night which we all waited for with bated breath the whole year! Held in California, this very edition of the Golden Globes came back in full swing with celebrities donning black ensembles to honour the victims of sexual abuse. The night was hosted by talk-show sensation, Seth Meyers with crème de la crème from Tinseltown dazzling the red carpet even in their sombre attires. Observing decorum for the sexually abused, the occasion was more politically charged this year with the #MeToo movement still afresh in everyone’s minds. The Best Actress, Drama winner Frances McDormand spoke against sexual predators lurking around and asserted on the importance of women speaking up against their assaulters. Other actors like Emma Watson, Meryl Streep and Michelle Williams showed up at the event with gender and racial justice activists as their dates for the night to express their support for the victims. The highlight of the night however, was Oprah Winfrey hailing the Cecil B. DeMille lifetime achievement award, thus becoming the first black woman ever to achieve the honour. Other highlights from the night include the small town drama, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri bagging four awards – the Best Motion Picture (drama) Award along with the Best Screenplay, Motion Picture, Best Actor in a Supporting Role in any Motion Picture and Best Actress titles, while Big Little Lies reigned the television categories with its best limited series award.
