An eighth continent named Zealandia, hidden under the ocean, has been found by scientists, as they have presented evidence for a new continent, which happens to be about half the size of Australia.

Located in the southwest Pacific under New Zealand, the island is named Zealandia and despite its landmass being 94 per cent underwater, geologists are saying that it meets all the necessary criteria to be recognised as the eighth continent in the world.

However, for now, no scientific body is set to formally recognise continents, one will have to wait for this new discovery to be added in the geography textbooks.
