Pretty much everyone has been inside a McDonald's at least once in their lives.

Even if you're not a fan of those delicious burgers, the fast food giant's branding is absolutely everywhere so there's no avoiding it.

Most of the company's thousands of restaurants look very similar, with the same decor, furniture and layout.

But there's one branch in America that's very, very different.

The Freeport McDonald's in Maine was built in a mansion once owned by William Gore, a prominent merchant in the town, reports Business Insider.

Not everyone in the town was happy about having a McDonald's there, so the company was only given the go-ahead if bosses kept Gore House in keeping with the town's unique look.

And it's not just the decor that's a lot fancier than normal, it also serves up some posh dishes. As well as your normal Big Mac and chicken nugget meals, diners can also tuck into a lobster roll.
