Wedding Bells for Aisha Khan

As the nation was still struggling to come out of the shock of Aisha Khan’s retirement from the entertainment industry, there came another blow when the former actress made an announcement of her wedding. Taking to Instagram, Aisha wrote, “My fiancé and I are overwhelmed with all the love and prayers that have poured in thus far. I had made my announcement to leave my media career as I now prefer to stay away from the limelight. We got engaged last year and have known each other for several years before. We would request privacy from here on and expect everybody to respect our decision of keeping our wedding a small family affair. Please remember us and our families in your prayers!”

Major Uqbah Malik, Aisha’s fiance, is an army man and is said to be the first ever Pakistani instructor at Britain’s Royal Military Academy. We wish the couple a happy married life!

Google pays tribute to Nazia Hassan

Last week, on the 53rd birthday of Pakistan’s first ever pop singing sensation Nazia Hassan, Google paid tribute to the legendary singer with its doodle feature. In a statement, Google wrote, “When young Pakistani girls in the 1980s closed their eyes and clutched a pretend mic in their hands, swaying and singing, a major inspiration was Nazia Hassan, who sometimes referred to as the “Princess of Pop”, was a sensation the likes of which hadn’t been seen in the region in years. Young and graceful, with long flowing hair, she charmed the country by belting out songs like Disco Deewane and Boom Boom alongside her brother Zohaib.”
