Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja's wedding festivities may have come to an end, but it continues to be all that anyone can talk about. From the star-studded guest list to the first pictures of the newlyweds, fans have been lapping up every little detail of the couple’s beautiful union.

Family Of Bollywood Insiders

What made it one of the biggest Bollywood weddings of now, was that Sonam comes from a family of Bollywood insiders. Her family has been in the film business since the 1970s, with her grandfather, the late Surinder Kapoor, being a producer, and her father Anil Kapoor, a top actor. From Sonam's uncles to her cousins, pretty much everyone has a Bollywood connection and enjoys immense goodwill in the industry.

It is no wonder then, that all of Bollywood was a part of Sonam and Anand's wedding festivities. Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Katrina Kaif, Alia Bhatt, Akshay Kumar, Amitabh Bachchan, Jacqueline Fernandez, Kangana Ranaut, Ranveer Singh, Rekha, Karan Johar, Rani Mukerji, Ranbir Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Varun Dhawan, Kareena Kapoor Khan... the list goes on!

Homely Vibe Of Wedding

The Kapoors are a close-knit family, and the wedding had a very homely vibe to it. The bigwigs of Bollywood did not merely strut around looking great, they were actively involved as they would be at a family member's wedding. The sangeet rehearsals had Karan Johar, Varun Dhawan, Jacqueline Fernandez, Arjun Kapoor and others matching the dancing steps.

And who can forget Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan dancing like there is no tomorrow? Just their mere presence sends fans and the media into a tizzy, but this time, they brought the house down with their moves.

But it was the father of the bride, Anil Kapoor, who was the highlight of the wedding. Even at 61, his energy is unmatched. From My Name Is Lakhan to Gallan Goodiyan, videos of Anil dancing at the wedding took the internet by storm.

SONAM-ANAND VS SAIFEENA

Saif and Kareena’s wedding in 2012 was also one of Bollywood’s biggest insiders. While the wedding itself was a private affair at Saif's residence, they hosted a lavish reception which was attended by the bigwigs of Bollywood.

SONAM-ANAND VS VIRUSHKA

The last big wedding that Bollywood saw was of Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma. While the Virushka wedding was the talk of the town for weeks after it happened, it was not as big as Sonam and Anand's, simply because it was a hush-hush destination wedding in Italy.

The intimate wedding was not attended by any of Anushka's colleagues from Bollywood. While they did have a star-studded reception in Mumbai, most of the wedding festivities were private and kept away from the media glare.

Mehndi

The festivities began with Sonam’s mehndi on May 7. For the function, the fashion marvel opted for a pastel-hued sharara by Anamika Khanna in soft rose pink and lilac, embellished with intricate brocade and gotta patti work. It was teamed with statement earrings and her hair was left loose with a center parting. Meanwhile, Sonam's beau Anand Ahuja looked dapper in a Raghavendra Rathore outfit.

Sangeet

For the sangeet ceremony the same evening, Sonam opted for an elegant white and gold glided Chikankari lehnga by Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla Couture. If reports are to be believed, this breathtaking ensemble apparently took multiple teams of artisans, eighteen months to complete. The outfit was paired with white and gold jewellery that included a maang tikka and choker from her mom’s collection. The diva kept the makeup minimal and pretty with beautiful bronze eyes, a simple black winged eyeliner and soft pink lipstick.

Wedding

Sonam Kapoor tied the knot with Anand Ahuja on May 8 in a traditional Sikh wedding ceremony. On her big day, the lady looked ethereal in all her bridal glory as she donned a red and gold lehnga by a textile designer, Anuradha Vakil. She was heavily adorned with traditional jewellery complete with a matha-patti and Guttapusalu necklace. Soft peach cheeks, red tinted lip and slightly dramatic eyes, made her look regal than ever.

Wedding reception

Sonam chose an Anamika Khanna couture for her reception. Her look included a long sleeve top, which was paired with a Chevron-striped lehnga and an organza cape. Layered necklaces, a red lip and poker straight hair rounded her look. Anand, on the other hand, opted for a blue bandhgala and paired it with casual Nikes! Together, they made a perfect power couple.

Sonam’s Idea of Romance

“Romance is not only about a romantic relationship. It is idealism, it is believing that the sky will always be blue, birds will always chirp and life will always get better. I am just an internal optimist,” Sonam said. When asked about the most romantic thing she has ever done, she added, “Little things. Observation. Understanding. The kind of coffee you drink. All of these are more romantic than the grand gestures.”

Happy bride - Sonam renames her Instagram handle

As soon as she got hold of Instagram after the saat pheras, Sonam Kapoor inaugurated her new social media handle - Sonam K Ahuja - with her first ever picture with husband Anand Ahuja as a married couple. She captioned the photograph with the same hashtag members of her family have been using for her wedding, #EverydayPhenomenal.

In the picture, taken at the Leela in Mumbai, the actor can be seen kissing Anand on the cheek, wearing her bridal lehnga, while Anand is dressed in his groom’s outfit.
