BEACH GETAWAYS IN KRABI

Mounted on the west coast of Southern Thailand, lies the province of Krabi; popular amongst tourists for its craggy, sheer limestone cliffs, dense mangrove forests, and more than a hundred offshore islands. Amongst its popular beach destinations include the Phi Phi Islands, which jut from the sea like giant rain-forested boulders, and Railay Beach, accessible only by boat and a prominent rock-climbing spot. The beautiful beaches of Krabi make it a perfect spot for tourists. Here are some of the most breathtaking ones.

Ao Nang Beach

Ao Nang is a small town in Krabi, famous for its beaches which attract large crowds of tourists. Albeit, too large in size, Ao Nang’s captivating view can be calibrated to blow your mind. It boasts the relaxed atmosphere of a small town, the beauty of a beach resort, the modern comforts of home, and the friendliness that sets Thailand apart. The town itself is small; a 30-minute stroll takes you from one end to the other. Given that, floating buildings are impractical and sheer cliffs don't readily lend themselves to development, this paradise won't be paved over anytime soon. By road, Ao Nang is 20 minutes from Krabi Town and Klong Muang Beach and a minute or two to Noppharat Thara Beach.

Phra Nang Beach

Part of a small peninsula located between Krabi Town and Ao Nang, Phra Nang Beach is one of the most scenic and picturesque beaches in the country. This short but broad strip of sand boasts a classic, jaw--dropping beach scenery only found in Thailand, with pure white sand framed by limestone cliffs and lapped by calm waters that are ideal for swimming and snorkeling. The wide area is particularly popular with rock climbers, and even if you don’t join in, it’s fascinating to watch those who do climb up right from the beach. At the southern end of the beach is a giant limestone cliff that contains the famous Princess Cave, said to be the home of a mythical sea princess. Other activities to keep you amused while you admire the scenery include having a massage, enjoying a barbecue, hiking, sunbathing and, of course, going for a swim. Just 20 minutes away from Ao Nang by longtail boat, fortunately Phra Nang Beach still lacks all the things that can quickly spoil a beach in the south of Thailand: noise, pollution, traffic, jet skis, and over-zealous hawkers.

Maya Bay Beach

The bucket-list beach on the island of Koh Phi Phi Leh became famous when it got featured in a Leonardo DiCaprio movie. Maya Bay is a stunningly beautiful bay that's sheltered by 100-metre high cliffs on three sides. Inside the bay there are several beaches, most are small and some only exist at low tide. The main one is around 200 metres long with silky soft white sand, underwater colourful coral and exotic fish in exceptionally clear water; the whole bay is one big reef. Maya Bay has become the main tourist attraction of Phi Phi since The Beach was filmed here in 1999. It was always very popular before the film, but now people around the world who haven't even heard of Phi Phi, have certainly heard of Maya Bay.

Tubkaek Beach

Half an hour’s drive from Ao Nang, heading north west up the coast is the isolated Tubkaek Beach. It is an ethereally beautiful place with powdery white sand giving way to the shallow-shelving waters of the Andamans. Dotted beautiful and very oddly shaped islands treat your eyes. It seems almost like a beachfront view created by Tolkien. The northern end of the beach is national park with the surrounding Tubkaek beach giving out a jungle-y, wooded feel. The long list of other amazing beaches will go beyond the limits of words. All cannot be summed up in a single writing, so head to Krabi and make your holidays great.
