Director and co-writer Genndy Tartakovsky’s third entry in the Hotel Transylvania franchise has that seen-this, done-that default association to it. However that does not mean it is was a bore, or a chore, to watch.

This time, the story takes characters on a cruise ship vacation. The Draculas’ (Adam Sandler and Mel Brooks), Frankenstien’s monsters (Kevin James and Fran Drescher), Invisible People (David Spade and Chrissy Teigen), Werewolves (Steve Buscemi and Molly Shannon) and pups as well as Dracula’s human son-in-law Johnny (Andy Samberg), his hybrid half human-half vampire grandson Dennis (Asher Blinkoff), daughter Mavis (Selena Gomez) – and so on – pack for a trip to the lost city of Atlantis.

On the ship, there is cruise romance for Dracula with the glamourous ship captain, Ericka (Kathryn Hahn). Soon though, old enemies come back for revenge and a lot of bobbing to music family fun begins.

Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation is a perfect summer filler. The animation is colorful and bright, and the feeling is breezy and very, very kid-friendly. There are flatulence jokes, but they are kept on minimal and done cutely and un-grossly. The voice acting from an excellent ensemble never lets a punch line fall to its face.

Hotel Transylvania movies are so unoffending to the mind, I won’t mind another one in two years’ time.•
