Dubai is all about big, bigger and biggest, but this one truly takes the cake. Jumeirah Zabeel Saray introduced the humongous concept (35 dishes, 13 kilos) recently and it will continue for a while. More than the food, it’s the experience that is eye-popping. It takes two servers to bring this ShahenshaiThali (literally meaning, a thali for the emperor) to your table and just the sight of over 30 colourful dishes, spread in all their glory on one embellished thali is a sight for hungry eyes! In consonance with different celebrations, this is also a communal thali meant for four people, at least. Of course, more are welcome (and needed to finish it!). The thali has about six to seven varieties of kebabs, meat and vegetable curries, three types of yogurt, amazingly fragrant biryani, two types of dal and four desserts, to name just a few. Overall, it’s a unique experience that presents Mughali food in all its royal glory.

INFO: Amala, Jumeirah Zabeel Saray, Dhs 600.
