The morbidly obese tabby, Bronson, was put on a strict health plan by the West Michigan Humane Society.

The three-year-old animal was sent to the shelter in May following the death of his owner, and it's thought Bronson piled on the pounds due to his elderly owner over-feeding him several times a day. The cat would need to loose more than 20 pounds to be a healthy weight, which is between five and ten pounds.

Since arriving at the shelter, the cat has been adopted by Mike Wilson and Megan Hannman, who are doing their best to maintain the animal's health.

The couple knew they needed to help Bronson the moment they saw him. Mike told the Metro: "When we first saw Bronson we were shocked because we had never seen a cat his size. He was huge. He really needed help.”
