She is a star for all and sundry, even for those who do not know a dime about fashion and glamour. She is Mahira Khan whose skills to stand out in the crowd know no bounds. Slowly and gradually, she has earned her fans on the other side of the border too who swoon over her for her glowing skin and luscious locks. The adage was proved when she bagged Vogue India’s coveted ‘Face To Watch Out For’ award at the Vogue Beauty Awards in 2016.

In July 2017, she revealed her beauty regimen to Vogue India and let the world know about her simple yet effective get-gorgeous tricks. As we get hold of the details, we outrightly decide to share with our readers. Here you go…

BEAUTY BELIEF

I am definitely a minimalist. How I feel from the inside is far more important than make-up or clothes. When I am at peace with myself and generally having a good day both, personally and professionally, I tend to look most beautiful.

BEAUTY RITUAL

I don’t believe in over-cleansing. I wash my face with plain water in the morning. If I am on shoot, I ice my face prior to applying make-up. Before bed, I cleanse with pure almond oil, followed by a good facial cleanser and anti-ageing night cream or face oil. I must admit I love face oils, many a time I’ll end up applying just almond oil at night.

VANITY CASE

BEAUTY FAUX PAS

I hosted this awards show and asked my stylist to give me ‘Adele’ hair. It was disastrous! The bouffant didn’t suit me at all. Surprisingly, that look made it to many best-dressed lists.

BEAUTY ICONS

My mom! She has the most beautiful skin and is gorgeous. And classic beauties like Audrey Hepburn and Rekha.

SPA ADDICT

I love Thai massages. Marriott Phuket Resort & Spa is fantastic.

BEAUTY DIY

Mix a teaspoon of honey with lemon juice and apply it over your face and neck for five minutes. This mixture cleanses and moisturises your skin and gives it an amazing glow.

DIET DISCIPLINE

I don’t follow a particular diet. I have two eggs and brown bread for breakfast and whatever is cooked at home for lunch and dinner. Fortunately, I am not big on desserts or junk food. And, thankfully, I don’t have a tendency to gain weight.

HEAVEN SCENT

As much as i would like to experiment, I have been obsessed with Ralph Lauren Romance ever since it was gifted to me at 14. I wear it day and night.

MAKE-UP MEMORIES

I was not allowed to wear make-up, not even as a teen. I used to get very upset about it then, but now when I think back I thank my mom for saving my skin! My dadi’s Nivea cream was the first ever beauty product I used.

HANDS ON
Bobbi Brown Pink Coral blush and YSL and Dior mascaras are my must-haves for night outs.

STYLE FILE

SIGNATURE LOOK

There are days when I go all out and look very glamorous and then there are days where I just want to keep it simple – hair worn down, a lip colour, liner, some blush and mascara, and I’m done. My personal style is a reflection of my childhood and later years in LA. It varies from classic (especially with traditional outfits) to boho and laid-back.

STYLE STAPLES

I like pieces from designers around the world. When it comes to traditional wear, I like Bunto Kazmi, Umar Sayeed, Manish Malhotra and Sabyasachi. My Western wear is usually from Feeha Jamshed, Elan and other Pakistani designers.

BEAUTY HOLIDAY DESTINATION

Europe has the best beauty products. Harrods in London and Saks Fifth Avenue in New York are my favourites; the variety there is unmatched.
