Facebook announces new updates for its Stories feature

Social Media News

Facebook has recently confirmed that all businesses can now advertise within Facebook Stories and with Messenger Stories coming soon. Now you can include Facebook Stories as an additional placement to News Feed or Instagram Stories ad campaigns, delivering your message in a fullscreen, immersive environment. And soon, you’ll be able to extend the reach and improve the performance of your stories ad campaigns in Messenger too. Facebook's new Stories ads will support all objectives currently available for Instagram Stories ads, including reach, brand awareness, video views, and app install, conversion, traffic and lead generation. Facebook’s full suite of targeting and measurement capabilities will also be available for stories ads across platforms.

Instagram's co-founders leave the company

Changes are afoot at Instagram. The co-founders Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger had both resigned from the company, and planned to leave parent-company Facebook too. Krieger and Systrom created Instagram in 2010 with the app's initial focus being on photography and image composition. Since then, as noted by Systrom, the app's gone on to become one of the biggest social platforms in the world, boasting a billion users, and expanding its focus beyond basic sharing. But that expansion, largely under Facebook following The Social Network's acquisition of the app in 2012, has also, reportedly, been a source of unease. Earlier this year, tensions between Instagram's founders and Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg over the best way forward for the app could be seen. The founders were not keen on duplicating Snapchat's popular Stories feature, which has gone on to become a big success within Instagram. Now, the reason of that tension is also believed to be behind the departure of Instagram's founders.
