Thal Desert Rally is set to return with 80 participants including women

The 3rd edition of massively popular Thal Desert Rally is returning on November 16, a bigger and better version of the previous instalments. According to official sources, as many as 80 drivers including women will be taking part in the rally.

The improvement in the desert rally is also part of the government’s plan to promote tourism in Pakistan.

The main objective of the rally has always been to promote Thal culture and its historical heritage. The rally has also helped in highlighting Southern Punjab and its desert for its tourism capabilities.

The organisers are hoping that more tourists will turn up for the event compared to previous editions.

The rally will begin from Head Muhammadwala, with Chobara [Distrcit Layyah] as its midpoint and will end at Head Muhammadwala. In total, the rally covers the distance of around 170km. The prize money is set at PKR 2.5 million which will be distributed among the winners from all of the three categories of the rally.
