1- ADD A TOUCH OF SHIMMER

If there was ever a time to experiment with sparkly makeup, it’s during party season. For a fresh and festive look that’s flattering on all skin tones, try a platinum hue, says Rihanna’s make-up artist Priscilla Ono. To pull it off, blend a highlighting powder on your cheekbones and lids (Ono used the “Diamonds” singer’s own Fenty Beauty version). Finish the glowing effect with a glistening lip gloss.

2- DRESS UP YOUR PONY

Make this everyday style look elegant by teasing the hair at the crown and giving the pony a subtle curl, says Emma Stone’s hairstylist Mara Roszak. “This shouldn’t feel overly structured,” she adds, so don’t worry if a piece falls out around the face. “The more imperfect, the better!”

3- UPGRADE YOUR BODY LOTION

If the thought of revealing your pasty, dry winter skin in a party dress makes you want to RSVP “no,” you’ll love this genius new find. Opt for a body moisturiser which contains sheer blush coloured pigment to blur and even out any imperfections. It leaves behind a subtle glow thanks to a hint of the sunless tanning ingredient dihydroxyacetone (aka DHA).

4- FAKE A PRO BLOWOUT

A sleek style has never been so simple to do at home, thanks to this heated brush. After blow-drying hair, slowly run the tool through small sections. Tip: If you’re short on time, focus on the front and top areas. “It’s the first thing people see,” says Drybar founder Alli Webb.

5- GET A GLITZY MANICURE

Glittery polish looks extra glam for a big night out. The key is to choose a metallic that matches your accessories. Apply two coats, then seal with a high-shine clear lacquer.

6- EMBRACE A DARK RED LIPSTICK

Rich maroon is a modern and sophisticated take on classic red, says makeup artist Sabrina Bedrani, who used the hue on Charlize Theron. Her tip: Define and fill in your lips with liner before applying lipstick to make it last longer.

7- PACK BLOTTING PAPERS

Stash these powder free squares in your clutch for quickie touch-ups. Press on your T-zone to absorb oil without disturbing the rest of our makeup.

8- MASTER A SMOKY EYE

There’s a reason this look is a red carpet staple: “It’s an easy way to make your eyes appear bigger,” says Constance Wu’s makeup artist Irina Strukova. Her method is to use two creamy shadow sticks: one in dark brown blended all over the lids, and one in black to enhance the lash lines and outer corners of the eyes.

9- AMP UP YOUR LASHES

Use a volumising mascara to create the look of fuller fringe. And don’t forget our lower lashes! Hold the wand vertically and use the tip go give them a boost.

10- WEAR A SPECIAL FRAGRANCE

Put yourself in a party mood with a spritz of a sexy scent. Jimmy Choo’s newest fragrance, Fever, with notes of plum, jasmine and sandalwood, is equal parts sweet and sensual.
