RALPH BREAKS THE INTERNET

Ralph from Wreck-It Ralph returns and breaks the thing that is already broken: The Internet. However when Ralph does it, it is quite entertaining.

It’s been six years since when we had last seen Ralph (John C. Reilly), the villain of old arcade video game called Fix-It Felix Jr who had found friendship with Vanellope (Sarah Silverman), the glitch-y racer from the bright and cute racing game Sugar Rush. Things are going great, but a little routine and redundant for Vanellope.

Things are turned upside down when Sugar Rush’s game controller, which look just like a steering wheel, is broken. At the same time, internet has just come into their life, and Ralph learns that the only Sugar Rush Steering wheel available on the internet is available on a place called Ebay. Soon Ralph and Vanellope embark into the internet to save her game.

A whole new world opens to them filled with advertisements, sites, and people going everywhere. Big sites are like big malls, or mega structures on the cityscape. People just have to click and their users are transported by mini-vehicle-pod to their destinations.

Wholesome and fun directors Rich Moore and Phil Johnston, and their writing team, bundled up the aspects that clicked in the original, while amping-up on pop-culture references, fantastic visuals and humor. Ralph Breaks the Internet has so much to offer that it’s dizzying.

When the breather comes in terms of Ralph and Vanellope’s friendship, the sudden tension feels awkward and forced even though the ground work was laid well enough. A calm transition in the end keeps the theme intact and ascertains the fact that Ralph movies are like Toy Story movies for the video game world. •
