International Skiing comes back to Pakistan after a long hiatus

The biggest international skiing event of the country has been in full swing till our going to the press.

Around 40 skiers from 13 countries are taking part in the event with participants from Greece, Afghanistan, Turkey, Ukraine, Hong Kong, United Kingdom, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Belgium, Morocco, Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, and Tajikistan.

The event is organised by the Winter Sports Federation of Pakistan in collaboration with Pakistan Air Force. Both organisations have been working hard to promote and revive international winter sports in the country.

At the end of the second day, Ukrainian skiers were seen dominating their rivals. They obtained two positions each in men and women categories. The first position in men was held by Tsibelenko Levko while the third was held by his countryman, Narichyn Andriy. Surprisingly, local athlete Muhammad Karim put up a fight and obtained the second position in the same category.

In the women’s league, Tikun Tetyana and Anastasia Gorbunova won the first and second positions, respectively. Both are from Ukraine. Pakistan’s Gia Ali secured the third position.
