Pakistan’s favourite romantic hero, the late Waheed Murad, was honoured by tech-giant Google on what would have been the acclaimed actor’s 81st birthday. We were beyond ourselves with happiness upon opening our browsers last week, and encountering a doodle featuring the actor’s signature hairstyle – a tribute to the Chocolate Hero of the South Asian Cinema. Murad has influenced the film industry immensely and has worked as a film actor, script writer and producer in a career he embarked on when he was just 21 years old. One of his films, Armaan, which was produced by him, was a great success. He acted in 125 feature films and earned 32 film awards. The married Salma Maker with whom he had three children.
