THE RISE AND RISE OF NEON

Our season just got brighter. A lot brighter. Neon has shown a remarkable influx in our wardrobe, but is it just a passing trend... or more than that? Fluorescent clothes and accessories were popular on a number of designer catwalks this year. While neutrals, darks and pastels have dominated the fashion scene over the past few years, the sudden surge of neon has led to comparisons with the 80s. But this isn't the first time fluoros returned. Fluorescent shades already hit the fashion scene last year, hitting micro-trend status, largely thanks to the Kardashians. But, those of us who thought neon trend was nothing more than a passing Instagram trend are about to be proven wrong. Not just the runways but a lot of celebrities confidently championed lime green, blinding yellow, extra hot pink and flame orange, proving that the trend is going to be sticking around for quite some time.

Hello yellow

This blinding yellow dress gives us a not-so-subtle hint that neon yellow will become this year’s staple. Pair it with hoop earrings and bangles. Oh, and don’t forget that sleek ponytail. It’ll make the look clean and semi formal.

Cozy in neon

For a more laid-back way to rock this bright colour, opt for an over-sized neon jumper and team it with a tank top and denim for a more laid-back vibe. Put on some sneakers and you’re good to go.

Clash of neons

Neon on neon isn’t what we normally see on the fashion radar but if Victoria Beckham can pair these two colours then this trend is something that’s definitely here to stay. So, don’t shy away from clashing bold and vivid colours.

Plush in pink

This year, to our complete delight, bright pink clothes appear to be the breakout hit of the runways. While a head-to-toe pink look is certainly a great option, there are also plenty of ways to add just a pop of the colour to your look. A pair of fuchsia heels can punch up your ensemble. A neon bag or hair clip can tie the whole look together.
