Here’s presenting a brand new entrant in the music industry. Introducing Shyraa Roy – passionate and brimming with determination and aiming to reach for the stars. On her way to dropping her debut single titled Raat, Roy has already busied herself with multiple projects and from the looks of it, we’re going to be seeing the debut singer a lot more. We get the scoop from the newest on the block for our readers, here’s an exclusive chat with Shyraa Roy:

What is it about music that you love which inspired you to chase this dream?

Music helped me deal with depression, I had a very disturbed and unfulfilled childhood since I belong to a narrow-minded Punjabi family and as per cultural boundaries; they don’t let girls pursue their dreams. I fought for that, settled in Washington, worked on my depressive situation because I wasn’t in touch with my family so whenever I missed them I used to sing. I think if you don’t have true feelings you’re not a good singer.

How much of yourself goes into your work?

I recently went to Dubai to shoot my first music single called Raat. I have worked on the video shoot for almost a week in different locations; the styling was immensely important for me because I wanted to look different in each scene. And I executed this by myself without anyone’s help, so it was huge for me.

Tell us more about “Raat”?

Raat is an exotic and sexy number, there is no story in the song, and there is no male model. It’s based on my performance, some awesome locations and good styling.

What do you dream to grow into?

My dream is to become a successful producer, actress and singer. That’s all there is but I also want to publish my book (my biggest dream). I want my book to create awareness about women rights and how a girl can deal with struggles. I want to help people who don’t know what to do and fight for your dream no matter who you’re fighting with. Fight because you have the right to live your life and break free.

What is next for you?

I’m working on my international film festival movie titled Hello Shabnam and a Netflix original on a very controversial and sensitive subject in a title role. They will be out this year.
