Poor crowd control

The Solis Festival is one of the most anticipated music festivals for the music loving Pakistanis. But unfortunately, chaos ensued at the Solis Music and Arts Festival in Islamabad on February 15 due to inefficient crowd control. A rowdy mob attacked the festival and as a result, the stage collapsed and many were hurt. With large crowds come great risks that can lead to devastating tragedy. The safety of the guests is always a priority and spending extra time devising the crowd control process will always be worth it. Bouncers should be more alert and make sure everyone is safe and has a good time. They should monitor people by checking ID’s and cover charge at the door, make sure nobody is acting aggressively or destructively, and protect property and equipment from damage. With adequate planning and strategies in place, the event disasters could have been prevented.

Mystery gas leak

Recently, a toxic gas leak killed multiple people and sickened dozens of others in the coastal residential area of Kemari in Karachi. According to reports, the mystery gas poisoning the air in Karachi has started spreading into other areas. I would like to advice people residing or traveling to areas near Kemari must at all cost wear face masks to prevent themselves from inhaling the toxic gas. Exposure to high levels of natural gas can cause death by suffocation, loss of consciousness, nausea, severe headaches, fatigue and even memory problems. If you think your health has been affected by exposure to this toxic gas, contact your health care professional ASAP. While the authorities must figure out the cause of this leak and eradicate that cause and fix the leak so no further lives are lost.

Juvenile delinquency

Society tends to perceive sexual offence as crimes committed by adult men against women, and especially against children of both sexes. Those who commit such offenses against minors and younger children are often believed to be predators and pedophiles and thus understood to be adult perpetrators of child molestation and violent rape crimes. This is not always the case. Unfortunately, juveniles themselves are also responsible for committing serious sex offenses against other minors. Recently, two minor boys between the ages of 12 and 14 were arrested in Nowshera, KPK, for allegedly gang-raping a five-year-old child. I strongly believe that the parliament should pass a bill which allows juveniles to be tried as adults for serious crimes like rape or murder. If a “child” has enough sense to commit such a heinous crime then he/she is very much capable of bearing the consequences of such a crime.

Economic benefits of PSL for Pakistan

A drastic development was made in the field of cricket in Pakistan with the formation of Pakistan Super League in 2015. PSL has brought many economic benefits for the country since its establishment. With PSL 5 in progress, many economic experts believe that PSL will aid more in boosting the country’s weak economy by generating money and bringing sports tourism in Pakistan. Billions of rupees are circulated during the event and the government profits by millions. Businesses of sports, hotels, restaurants, the textile industry, airlines, and advertisements profit with the arrival of players and thousands of cricket fans. More importantly, the government generates profits from ticket selling and food is a major attraction for both tourists and fans. The textile industry profits from the increased production of shirts, caps and other garments. Lastly, the success of PSL will also encourage and lay the foundation for various other sporting leagues across the country.
