Zehra Nigah honoured with Allama Iqbal Award

The veteran poetess has been awarded by the Pakistan Academy of Letters for her book Gul Chandni. This is her fourth collection of poems, the first three titles that earned her massive recognition were Shaam Ka Pehla Tara, Waraq and Firaq. Her poetry is marked by subtlety of romance and sensitivity to social issues. It was announced that the academy has given away cash prizes worth Rs5 million to 21 writers and poets of the country. The academy also awarded renowned Balochi novelist Munir Ahmad Badini with the prestigious Kamal-i-Funn award.
