Eastern Couture Per Excellence

Read this before you go shopping for your next ethnic addition to your wedding wardrobe

Bridal dresses come with a specific mandate – they come in bold colours, preferably red or maroon, and feature ornate details and heavy embroideries. Not anymore, not in 2020 at least. Because the year is already seeing a big shift in terms of fabrics, shades and silhouettes and they’re bold, yet minimal, and mostly effortless and fun.Season after season, the lehenga solidifies its status as the ultimate wedding wardrobe MVP in Pakistan. While each year sees myriad iterations of the festive staple, there’s been one common denominator tying them all together lately.

The recent crop of lehengas is dominated by fuss-free styles that would serve well for everyone from wedding guests and bridesmaids to the brides themselves. So in 2020, the vibe is all about renewed, forward-thinking interpretations of such effortless silhouettes. Apart from this, while some brides are seen opting for pastel hues and earthy tones for their wedding lehengas, the traditional deep red lehenga will continue to stay on the radar. But if you are a bride who loves to experiment and go for something offbeat, then white is your colour this wedding season. If there is any colour that can overtake the traditional red, it’s definitely white. It’s not necessary to go for a bright white, you can opt for any shade of white from cream to ivory to off-white to vanilla.

As far as the fabric of the lehenga is concerned, apart from net and tulle, velvet has been all the rage among the fashion designers since the past few years. Velvet exhumes a sense of luxury and effortless elegance, and this material makes for the most regal and timeless pieces of fashion. It is no wonder velvet lehengas are the perfect choice for the bride who ants a slice of royalty.

A-Line and floor length maxi dresses will also reign over the wedding wardrobe of most brides. As this year is all about effortless dressing, what can be more effortless than sliding into a one piece maxi? They are easy, effortless and instantly statement making.
