When Sofia Karppi, a detective in her 30’s who is trying to get over her husband’s death, discovers the body of a young woman on a construction site, she triggers a chain of events that threatens to destroy her life again. Deadwind is a highly thrilling series from Finland mixing crime investigation and drama together. The Finnish series was an international hit, and when the first season made its way to Netflix, subscribers couldn’t wait for the next iteration to arrive. Now the highly anticipated second season of the detective series, which is under the title of Karppi in its place of origin, has finally made its way to the streaming giant’s library. The first season received strong reviews from critics and was compared to the Danish series The Killing and the Danish-Swedish series The Bridge, both of which were so well-received they had American remakes developed. So, fans of any of those shows should definitely add Deadwind to their watch list, especially since the follow-up season is now in play. The compelling and addictive series stars Pihla Vitala, a Homicide police detective Sofia Karppi and her partner, rookie detective Sakari Nurmi played by Lauri Tikkanen. The Nordic noir and Finnish crime drama is one chillingly effective experience the viewers will not want to miss.
