Sakina Samo’s Interzar to have a world premiere at the Harlem International Film Festival

Veteran actress, Sakina Samo, made her directorial debut with her feature film, Intezaar (Waiting). The film is now all set to have its world premiere at the Harlem International Film Festival which will be held in New York from 10th September to 13th September, 2020. Samo took to her social media and announced, “Our Intezaar (Waiting) will have its world premiere at the Harlem International Film Festival in New York. See the link for all films being shown and how to watch online.” Intezaar revolves around the story of a family who is patiently waiting for things to happen. A father waits for his family to leave him; a mother waits for her son to come home and a daughter taking care of her ageing parents, waits for them to pass on. And during all this waiting, each one of them finds reasons to live. The film stars Samina Ahmed, Khalid Ahmed, Kaif Ghaznavi, Adnan Jaffar, Raza Ali Abid amongst others. And the film is penned down by award winning screenwriter, Bee Gul.


Usman Mukhtar's short film Bench makes it to Cannes Independent Film Festival

Unveiled earlier this year, Usman Mukhtar's short film Bench starring Rubya Chaudhry made headlines for its ability to grasp attention from audiences and critics alike. Winning international hearts at the Independent Short Film Awards in California, the story unpacked the struggles of a young couple within their relationship. Recently, Mukhtar took to Instagram to share another milestone, revealing to fans that the short film has been selected for the Cannes Independent Film Festival. “With great humility, joy and pride do we announce that Bench has been selected at the first Cannes International Independent Film Festival – CIIFF,” the Anaa star posted. "We strive for the love of art and cinema and hope to reach new heights. We will continue making more films and also make it to the one and only Cannes Film Festival one day." Talking to a publication Mukhtar expressed, “All of us feel great. We've been selected by some respectful festivals and we're really thankful for that.” The festival will be held from October 18-20, 2020.
