Junoon – Talk of Return!

It was pur israr. Mystery surrounded it. What did Junoon mean by “Taara jala?” Were they inspirationally predicting an astronomical event? Their last brilliant number together, Taara jala was not only symbolically perfect in an artistic way, with immense sensibilities like the best of the Rock from the West. It definitely was something that, unbeknownst to them, was closer to the coming astronomical events. “And in the last days, it shall be,” God declares, “that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams!” – Acts 2:17

Well, if Pink Floyd can see through the zombies in their brilliant 70s’ great number Another Brick In The Wall, why can’t Junoon do the same with Taara Jala? Don’t know if it was written by their regular lyricist and poet, Sabir Zafar or somebody else. Now, the iconic music band with a cult following, even this far down the track after their dismemberment, is rumoured to be returning to the stage. And the word is it could be this Christmas, or early next year. It will be great to see Ali Azmat, Salman Ahmed and Brian O’Connel back together. Waiting with bated breath for their first new release.
